Maintaining proper nutrition on and off the course is very important to your overall golf performance. There’s no one specific food or diet that will fit every golfer’s needs. A golfer’s nutrition plan should be individualized and designed to meet the needs of training and competition or recreational play. However, there are still a handful of sound principles that should apply to every golfer's performance nutrition plan. -When preparing for competition, stick with foods that you know. Never try something new just prior or in the heat of competition. -Make sure you eat a variety of foods daily. Follow the 'rainbow' approach where you chose various colors of the rainbow in the form of fruits and vegetables. -Each meal should have a balance of nutrients to include some protein, some carbohrdates and a minimal amount of fat. -Drink 8 to 10 full glasses of water daily. The easiest thing to do is carry a one liter water bottle with you and fill it up several times daily.
