Golf Nutrition

Maintaining proper nutrition on and off the course is very important to your overall golf performance. There’s no one specific food or diet that will fit every golfer’s needs. A golfer’s nutrition plan should be individualized and designed to meet the needs of training and competition or recreational play.

However, there are still a handful of sound principles that should apply to every golfer's performance nutrition plan.

-When preparing for competition, stick with foods that you know. Never try something new just prior or in the heat of competition.

-Make sure you eat a variety of foods daily. Follow the 'rainbow' approach where you chose various colors of the rainbow in the form of fruits and vegetables.

-Each meal should have a balance of nutrients to include some protein, some carbohrdates and a minimal amount of fat.

-Drink 8 to 10 full glasses of water daily. The easiest thing to do is carry a one liter water bottle with you and fill it up several times daily.
